What is a dermatologist?

A dermatologist is an expert specialist in skin cancer and all skin-related diseases. All dermatologists have received extensive and intensive formal training in diagnosing, treating and managing all skin conditions, including skin cancer. Skin specialists should have the letters FACD after their name, indicating their Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. The Australasian College of Dermatology is the only Australian Medical Council accredited college in Australia to train dermatologists.

What is a Mohs surgeon?

A Mohs surgeon is a qualified dermatologist who has undertaken a minimum of 1 – 2 years approved Mohs micrographic surgery training or equivalent Mohs Fellowship program, and met the specific requirements. Mohs surgery is an advanced surgical technique used for the treatment of skin cancers. The procedure offers the highest chance of cure of any treatment available, while conserving healthy tissue around the skin cancer. The Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) maintains a list of doctors who have reached a defined standard of training in Mohs micrographic surgery and who take part in ongoing professional development. This ensures quality and safety for patients. The doctors on the ACD Approved Mohs Micrographic Surgeons register are both Fellows of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) and accredited Mohs surgeons.

Our values

At Q Dermatology we value honesty, trust, integrity, and building life long relationships. These values form the foundation of everything we strive to achieve. We are Queensland’s latest dermatology practice, founded by Dr Adam Quinn in 2019. Q Dermatology has the aim to offer ‘all things skin’ under the one banner. Our dermatologists treat skin cancer, rashes and cosmetic concerns, and everything in between. Q Dermatology is doctor owned and run to ensure best patient care, quality assurance and best practice. We serve our local and wider community, and strive to be leaders in our field. Our mission and vision are centred on the fact that we truly care.

Mission

Q Dermatology puts patients at the epicentre of all we do. Evidence based, best practice medicine is offered in warm, unintimidating, inviting surrounds. Specialist dermatologists provide individually tailored treatments, involving patients in informed discussion of their condition and treatment options. We take pride in taking care of all your skin needs under the one specialist roof.

Vision

Empower every person to be comfortable in their own skin.

Why choose us

People often ask us why choose Q Dermatology? So we thought we would list the most common reasons:

  1. Specialist treatment:

We are specialists in skin, and as such provide world-class treatment and advice for your specific skin condition. You can trust our dermatologists (specialists in all skin, hair and nail concerns including skin cancer) to deliver clinical care with the utmost respect for you, your privacy and confidentiality.

  2. Expert care:

All our dermatologists are accredited by the Australasian College of Dermatology. Having completed their fellowship training in Australia, each has travelled overseas to advance their interest and expertise in fields including paediatric, surgical, complex medical and cosmetic dermatology. We invest our time and energy in international and national conferences, as well as clinical meetings, to ensure the care our patients receive is always up to date with best practice and innovative medicine.

  3. Upfront and honest:

All our staff communicate honestly and openly with our patients, from the moment when you first book in. We make sure you have all the information you need to feel comfortable about attending your appointment; while you’re here your dermatologist’s highest priority is to ensure you understand your skin condition, and the best treatment available to you. We take the time to explain treatment options, cutting out complex terminology and medical lingo. We keep your general practitioner up to date with timely communication after your appointments, as we are strong believers in holistic care.

  4. Family friendly:

Family and friends are a big part of Q Dermatology. From the outset we aim to form lifelong relationships with our patients, staff and industry bodies – so we always put their needs first. We take word of mouth seriously and the greatest compliment you can give us is to recommend someone to us for specialist care. We genuinely want to improve our patients’ skin wellbeing, so we ensure you’re given useful and meaningful information about your skin health.

  5. Premium grade facilities:

Q Dermatology has the latest A grade medical fit out, purpose built to ensure a comfortable and relaxing treatment journey. From state of the art procedural chairs to the latest technology in phototherapy, we deliver a cohesive care experience. Our facilities are responsive to all patient needs, including those who require assistance for access. We have onsite Mohs facilities to ensure your skin cancer is removed correctly the first time.

  6. Life long relationships:

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, as well as the most visible and easily accessed. Early diagnosis and commencement of treatment are key to skin disease. Taking skin cancer as an example: not only does early diagnosis give you the optimal outcome, it can save your life. At Q Dermatology we strive to earn your trust and confidence, walking in our patients’ shoes and asking what more we can do for you.

  7. Continuity of care:

We provide complete care for your skin, and offer the full scope of practice under one roof. We can diagnose at the initial consultation and then treat, including surgical removal of skin cancer. Consultation and advice, surgical care, medical therapies, cosmetic procedures and overnight accommodation are available, and premium facilities assist in achieving the best possible outcomes. For patients travelling from remote areas, we seek to offer the most timely assessment and treatment.

  8. Friendly service:

At Q Dermatology, we all want to be here. Our care for you as our patient is genuine, making friendly service a certainty, not a chore. We welcome feedback, and continually strive to improve and enrich your consultation experience.

  9. Team environment:

Everyone at Q Dermatology is a team member of equal value. Respect for our patients and for one another fosters a positive environment ensuring excellent results. Integrity in providing outstanding patient care is grounded in our commitment to leading a team of people who care – so we prioritise team building, professionalism and staff development.
